After defining target market and finding something you want to sell, learn marketing basic and fundamental. You can learn from marketing guru, mentor, reading marketing books and marketing blog, follow twitter of marketing expert, involve in marketing practitioner circle in Google plus, and other sources.

Once you discover the marketing strategy that is suitable for you as a college student, implement it. Monitor and track your progress. Evaluate this and get a feedback. You can modify your strategy based on your evaluation or you can also change your strategy and build from scratch.

Things to remember here are document all related things, such as : your implementation, your strategy, your result from implementing particular strategy, etc. As the time goes by, you will find precise strategy that is fit for your product and get the best result.

This is we call learning by doing and it is suitable way for student to learn marketing. The keys are learn it, implement it, and evaluate it.
