An ultimate winning advertisement can trigger a desire (a want) in audiences. Aside from this, the successful advertisements usually can convey information optimally, how You fulfill that desire and make potential customers feel steady with you.

After knowing advertising basic definition and the basic goal of advertising, I will explain you basic advertising techniques in the next paragraph.

If We observe to media which advertiser use, we can simply say that there are two kinds of advertising where we can do. They are above the line advertising and below the line advertising.


Above the line advertising

Above the line advertising is advertising that utilize these media, they are: television, radio, newspaper (and another press), outdoor billboards, etc.

1. Communicate your solution (product or service) to your audiences at television.

You can spend money to television advertisement program (commercial break in the particular spot of time at famous Television program).

2. Spread your sales message at newspaper.

You must choose a right newspaper to do a campaign. I mean newspaper which has same audiences with your segment market. The better targeted audiences the higher opportunities You will get.

The thing to remember, you must enhance your sales copy to perform this basic advertising technique. The better your copy-writing the higher conversion you will get.

3. Convey your message at billboard.

Catch your targeted audiences by creating an outstanding ad to put at the billboard. You should put the ad to place where your target audiences usually go or their hangout.

Below the line advertising is all advertising which utilize other than above media, such as: direct mail, direct approach, catalog, trade show/exhibition, merchandising, sponsorship, etc.

Email list building means collecting potential customer's email. Once You collected the list of email, You can send them direct approach and communicate with them. In marketing world, it is called “lead nurturing”.

The more You do a good lead nurturing, the higher conversion you will get.

2. 30% are admit that they get anxious when smartphone is not in their side (Google Consumer Survey, August 2015).
3, 87% always have their smartphone at their side, day and night (September 2014)
4. People check their phone 150 times a day (2013 Internet trends report)
This is the most interesting fact based on data that I'm sure make you shift to mobile marketing. Below is the fact:

82% of smartphone users say they consult their mobile phone on purchases they're about to make in a store (March 2015).

First step, You must define business objectives clearly.

Second step, mapping your business objectives to marketing objectives. In other words, align your marketing objectives with business objectives.

Then, You can translate them to advertising objectives.

Finally, You will find appropriate metrics.

Example:

I will give an example and start from advertising objective.

Objective: Generate Online leads through mobile.

Once you know the objective, you can easily know the channel.

Ad channel: paid search, referral program, mobile friendly website with full informative content.

From the channel that you define, then you can decide what KPI you will observe.

KPI (Key Performance Indicator): number of leads, cost per acquisition.
