Today, I wrote about marketing channel.  Knowing this marketing knowledge is helpful to grow your business. Why? Because marketing is one of fundamentals thing to know so that you can run your business better. Marketing knowledge is used for promote and market your product or service. In order to get higher sales you have to implement this knowledge. 

What is marketing channels?


One of the marketing concept that you must know is marketing channel.  

Marketing channel is a path or way for your product or service so that you can engage with your prospect and  your customer.

In order to reach target market, you usually utilize three types of marketing channels.


  1. 1.       Communication channel

Communication channel  is pathway to deliver message to target buyer or prospect and channel to engage with current customer. This is used for receive any feedback from prospect or loyal customer.

There are two kinds of communication channels, they are:

a.       Monologue channel.

This is for one way communication. Flow of communication is from you to target buyer or current customer.

For examples: newspapers, magazines, television, radio, billboards, posters, fliers, CD, audiotapes, and other type of ads.

b.      Two ways communication ( dialogue channel )

This is for two way communication instead of monologue channel.  Nowadays, marketer is increasingly adding dialogue channel for reaching and getting message from and to customer.

For examples: telephone (usually is toll-free number), email, internet ( forums website and helpdesk site), social media site, and so on.



  1. 2.       Distribution channel

Distribution is used to display your product or service to target buyer or current customer. This is also a pathway or route to deliver your product or service to buyer.

There are two type of channel based on whether you sell physical product or service, they are : physical distribution channel and service distribution channel.

Samples of distribution channel  are shop ( offline shop or online shop ), warehouse, transportation vehicle, trading channel such as distributor, wholesaler, and retailer.


  1. 3.       Selling channel

This is one of important sales process . The marketer usually use selling channel to make an impression to potential buyer ( targeted buyer ). This channel is an comprehensive thing you have to focus on.

Selling channels include not only the distributors and retailers but also the banks and insurance companies that facilitate transactions. If you make simplicity process in this channel, it will be easy for you closing the sales.

This is your challenge as a marketer or business owner. In order to get high sales, you have to  implement the best mix of communication, distribution, and selling channels for your offerings.
