Generally speaking, there are several media when we perform marketing activities. One of them  is email. It is known as email marketing.  Email marketing contains newsletter, discussion list, adding our signatures to the emails, etc.

Every single email we send whenever we are in contact with other related to our business such as: sales letter, newsletter, support message, follow up message, question, is our email marketing.

As I mention before, there are several marketing tools. Every tools can be effective. It depends on our prospect, situation, budget. And I will show you that email marketing is one of effective marketing tool.

There are at least three aspects that make email marketing efficient tool.
First, in the information era, almost anybody can use email. No charge, we can make email account for free, there are no need to invest enormous money to get started. All we need only a list of contact (email address) and email program. once we have built a list of email contacts, we can keep in touch with them again and again.

Second, email is push technology, therefore we push or convey our message to our customer, instead of waiting for them to contact us. It is an active approach. All we need is content of our message and decide the time when we deliver our message.

Third, email is a cheap tool to follow up on direct and telemarketing campaign. We could send direct mail and then follow up a week later. Or we could ask prospects email to send them additional and comprehensive information.

Email signature
If we take a part in discussion forum or mailing list, we sometime see somebody write a piece of text which is displayed at the end of an email message he send. The text whether is promotional or functional email signatures.

We take a look a promotional signature first. Promotional email signature is vast for telling people who we are, how to contact us, and what product or service we offer. It is especially effective when sending post to online discussion forum, because our email signature can be overviewed by thousand of readers.

Second, a functional signature, in contrast, is used to make easier communication with customer and co-worker who already know who we are and what our business.

Email signature usually start with a greeting and our name. We may include our title and company. Thus, promotional part after that.
